Window style
Double-hung, casement, sliding, awning, picture, bay, and custom units use different amounts of material and hardware.
2026 Vinyl frame cost planner
Vinyl describes the frame material; double-hung, casement, sliding, awning, and bay describe window styles. This page compares installed vinyl ranges across those styles. If you need one specific style, start with the double-hung window cost calculator, then match glass, installation scope, access, and repairs to the quote.

Installed planning ranges
Frame material is only one cost driver. The amount of glass, hardware, size, configuration, and installation work changes the price of each vinyl window style.
| Vinyl style | Installed range | Scope note |
|---|---|---|
| Double-hung | $478–$2,412 | Common vertical-opening replacement |
| Casement | $589–$2,993 | Crank-operated sash and hardware |
| Sliding | $652–$2,668 | Wide horizontal opening |
| Awning | $750–$1,886 | Hinged at the top for ventilation |
| Bay or bow | $3,554–$10,245 | Projecting assembly and structural scope |

Four quote checks
Double-hung, casement, sliding, awning, picture, bay, and custom units use different amounts of material and hardware.
An insert keeps a sound frame. Full-frame work adds removal, flashing, insulation, trim, and more labor.
Low-E packages, triple panes, impact glass, dark exterior colors, grids, and specialty finishes can increase price.
Rot, failed flashing, upper-story access, lead-safe work, and nonstandard sizes make a simple replacement more complex.
Avoid a false bargain
A product-only price leaves out the part most likely to cause future leaks or drafts: installation. Put every bidder on the same scope. Record whether each opening is insert or full frame, how flashing and insulation are handled, which trim is included, and how hidden damage becomes a change order.
Vinyl is also not automatically the right material for every opening. Large dark-colored units, design requirements, climate exposure, and structural demands may change the suitable frame or reinforcement. Use the estimate to prepare questions, not to replace an on-site assessment.
Plain answers
Published professionally installed planning ranges run from about $478 to $2,412 for a vinyl double-hung window. Style, size, glass, insert versus full-frame installation, access, repairs, and local labor can move an individual opening below or above that range.
Vinyl is commonly a lower-cost frame choice and does not need painting, but the complete quote matters more than the material label. Product series, reinforcement, glass package, dimensions, color, installation method, flashing, trim, and warranty can create large price differences between vinyl windows.
Insert installation can work when the existing frame is square, dry, and structurally sound. Full-frame replacement costs more because it removes the old frame, but it exposes the opening and allows new flashing, insulation, and trim when the old assembly is damaged or poorly installed.
Yes. It produces an installed planning range rather than a product-only price. Select the installation scope, access, market, opening condition, glass, and extras that resemble your project, then compare the result with itemized contractor quotes.
